Inventory Control Specialist

Job Description

McKamish is seeking a full time Inventory Control Specialist (Construction / Tool).
  • Receive requisition forms from foremen for tools and supplies
  • Receive phone calls from field foremen for jobsite tool orders, tools to be purchased, or rented
  • Prepare requisition forms for the purchasing department for tools and other material needed 
  • Call in or fax purchase orders to suppliers for purchases
  • Enter data upon receiving new tools 
  • Assign tool numbers to all new tools
  • Data entry of all tool transfers 
  • Receive calls for tool printouts for updates and job or vehicle transfers
  • Search files, and jobsites for availability and transfers before a purchase
  • Maintain and properly check tools for defects prior to sending to jobsite 
  • Maintain a safe and organized warehouse
  • Update the tool repair report weekly 
  • Make sure tools under warranty are repaired under warranty 
  • Record and have an updated list of all tools in other locations other than the tool room. (ie: trailers, balcony, etc.)
  • Maintain stock/inventory of safety equipment 
  • Conduct year end tool room inventory
  • Painting and general cleaning when needed
  • Order stock supplies for tool room 
  • Track pick ups of tools as they come and go from the shop
  • Meet with vendors to discuss current promotions, status of tools being used, etc.
  • Promptly reacts to the needs of our internal and external customers.
  • Effectively communicates with all store associates, management, and customers.
  • Work Safely – Ensure all tasks and functions of position are performed in a safe manner at all times and that all procedures and requirements are properly followed to accomplish assigned tasks
  • Visit vendor facilities and attend vendor functions to develop relationships
  • Provide excellent customer service to internal and external customers
  • Provide backup for Stock Room Attendant
  • Provide backup for Shipping Supervisor
  • Direct activities of Shipper’s Helper

Job Requirements

  • Attention to detail and inventory accuracy while managing simultaneously multiple projects
  • Ability to plan and prioritize workload in a fast-paced environment
  • Flexibility to occasionally work early mornings, evenings, weekends and/or holidays
  • Excellent team-building, operational, problem-solving, organizational and planning skills
  • Two years + of previous warehouse or distribution experience strongly preferred
  • Construction tool knowledge is a must
