The Animal Facility Annex was built for WVU Health Sciences and is a LEED accredited infill (new construction) and some renovation in the existing WVU-Health Sciences Center.  The Animal Facility includes a BLS-2 animal holding space, procedure rooms, a transgenic animal core facility and an ABSL-3, BSL-3 Suite.  The HVAC system consisted of steam heat to heat exchangers that provide hot water reheat. There is a high level laboratory exhaust system serving the Animal facility that feed through an energy recovery system that serves the indoor AHUS.  The Plumbing system consisted of lab air vacuum, med gas, animal drinking system, chemical waste monitoring system and a water softener system. McKamish’s work on early BIM coordination assisted in maintaining the project schedule.
