McKamish was one of the first specialty contractors in the region to recognize the advantages of full service, in-house BIM capabilities. On any given project, McKamish regularly takes the lead in the coordination among all trades. By hosting the various trades, vendors, and design professionals in our BIM conference room, a project is able to be fully coordinated and when challenges arise, they can be openly communicated with all members of the project team in order to expedite resolutions.
The overall objective of the BIM coordination process is to produce a coordinated model that will enhance prefabrication and improve efficiency, accuracy and overall productivity of the installation and fabrication processes with detailed, coordinated shop drawings. In addition, it is a tool for the owner for maintenance after construction is complete.
Below is a list of some of our capabilities as it relates to BIM:
- Comprehensive 3D modeling for all three of our in-house trades utilizing Revit, Navisworks, Autocad and/or Revizto
- BIM coordination services including coordination meetings, clash detection, clash reporting, model management and up to Level of Detail (LOD) 500 shop/fabrication drawings
- Project scheduling and coordination
- Implanting equipment specifications directly into the model
- Utilizing Trimble Total Stations for pre-installed hangers, pad layout, floor/wall penetrations, roof equipment layout and excavation layout
- Identifying prefabrication opportunities during coordination to enable more efficient installation practices
- Interacting with outside contractors in Procore through model sharing and RFI management
