McKamish was the mechanical contractor for the BASF Project SEIZE located in Monaca, PA.
McKamish completed a process piping and mechanical installation project for BASF, at their Monaca, PA facility. The Acronal Safety Concept Improvement Project involved modifications to process piping, equipment, valves and automated valves and instrumentation. Acronal is used in paper coatings, adhesives, non-wovens and textile coatings, paints, primers, sealants and construction chemicals.
The work had to be planned, scheduled, pre-fabricated and installed in multiple “outage periods” in order to allow the plant to remain in full production during the upgrades. McKamish successfully completed the project and minimized the impact to the plant’s production through close coordination with BASF Corporate and on-site personnel. McKamish’s welders responded to the challenge by performing thousands of ASME B31.3 (Process Piping Code) welds, with less than 3% x-ray rework rate.
