McKamish was the design-build, prime mechanical contractor for the West Penn Hospital Chiller Replacement project. The project included the demolition of three existing chillers and replacing them with three new chillers, associated pumps and electrical transformers. The major project challenge was installing the new chillers that had to be lowered in an areaway down to the boiler room level without disassembling the equipment. Through a high level of coordination between the project team and the hospital, the project was completed on time and under budget.
